I am not a doctor

They handed you another prescription. Not a plan.

You hear diet and exercise, diet and exercise, and no one ever explains exactly what that means. So I wrote down exactly what I did. The food, the fasting, the walking. All of it.

Type 2 Ain't My Type

“This book is the long-form story. The proof. The arc from an A1C of 11.7 to 5.5. Three and a half years. Zero diabetes medications now. The lab numbers did the talking.”

The part nobody else has

Eight dated LabCorp draws.

A doctor can hand you a theory. I can hand you my blood work. These are collection dates from my own lab reports, in order, including the years it got worse.

My A1C, from the worst draw to the most recent one.

11.7July 2022 to 5.5March 2026

6.5 is the number where Type 2 gets diagnosed. That is what makes an 11.7 frightening and a 5.5 worth writing a book about.

No insulin. No metformin. No glipizide. No GLP-1.

Draw dateA1C
July 18, 20188.6%
January 2, 20198.6%
June 26, 201910.5%
July 6, 202211.7%
January 29, 20246.3%
April 2, 20256.0%
September 23, 20255.7%
March 4, 20265.5%

Eight draws. About three and a half years from the worst one to the last one.

Why me

I am not a doctor. That is the point.

Ray Taylor, author of Type 2 Ain't My Type. A1C 11.7 percent July 2022 to 5.5 percent March 2026, zero medications.
Ray Taylor. Diagnosed 2017. Still here.

The shelf is full of doctors. They explain the mechanism well. Not one of them woke up in a hospital room with their own blood sugar at 450.

The programs want you to qualify. Eligibility checks, waiting rooms, monthly fees, and a coach you have to keep paying.

I was the patient. I got the diagnosis in 2017 after a foot surgery would not heal. I have been living with this for about nine years. The book is what I did, in order, in plain English.

Don’t take anything I say as gospel, do your own research. Remember, I AM NOT A DOCTOR, I am just a guy who had Type 2 Diabetes, got tired of having it, and took actions that resulted in me no longer having the “disease”. From the book

What readers said

Not my words this time.

“Encouraging, Insightful, and Surprisingly Funny”

“As a woman with PCOS, I’m always looking for real, practical guidance on insulin resistance and metabolic health and this book delivered more than I expected. ... I learned so much about the importance of fasting, nutrition, understanding A1C through blood work, and making consistent attainable changes. ... I’m a very tough sell and I don’t do reviews unless I know it’s great. Trust me, this is great.”

Sierra. Amazon review, July 2026.

“This book is a must read”

The approach felt encouraging and practical, showing that change is possible one step at a time. ... I appreciated how the story blended personal testimony with motivation, leaving readers feeling empowered to take a closer look at their own health journey.”

Carolyn. Amazon review, May 2026.

These are readers’ own words about the book. They are not a promise about your body. This is not medical advice.

Before you buy it

What this book is, and what it is not.

“It ain’t always easy, and it damn sure won’t always feel good. And here’s another hard truth: What worked for me might not work exactly the same way for you! Everyone’s body... and circumstances are different. This isn’t a magic wand.

What it is not

  • Not a cure
  • Not a quick fix
  • Not anti-doctor, and not anti-medication
  • Not a promise about your body

What it is

  • One man's dated lab record, start to finish
  • Food. Fasting. Movement.
  • Written for somebody who just got the news
  • Yours to keep, no program to join

Start where you are

You are earlier than I was.

“Hopelessness is a mindset you can REJECT. Improvement is ALWAYS possible, no matter your starting point or how long you’ve had diabetes.”

I DON’T WANT TO DIE.
I WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT!
I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

“Every single day you spend postponing change, and lying to yourself, is another day you’re digging the hole deeper. It’s another day your body is struggling, another day inflammation is doing its dirty work, another day you’re drifting further from the life you could be living. Time doesn’t stop ticking just because you’re not ready.”
