I was supposed to be a statistic.
In May 2022, I ended up in a hospital with a blood sugar of 450. Four days admitted. Insulin shots around the clock. And an A1C of 11.7 — the kind of number doctors write follow-up notes about.
I had Type 2 diabetes. Had it since 2017, actually. Just kept getting worse despite the medications. Metformin. Glipizide. Then insulin. The full triple therapy protocol. My A1C climbed from 8.6 to 10.5 to 11.7 while I was supposedly being managed.
Walking out of that hospital was the moment I decided I was not going to manage this disease. I was going to beat it.
Three and a half years later: A1C of 5.5. Zero medications. Lab-verified. Real.
How I Did It
Three pillars. No shortcuts. No supplements that promised the moon. No special clinics. Just food, fasting, and movement done consistently over time.
Food. I went 90% plant-based plus wild-caught fish. Not because of ideology — because of what it does to blood sugar. Fiber stabilizes glucose absorption. Real food does not spike insulin. The processed stuff does. I stopped eating the processed stuff.
Fasting. I worked up to 18 to 24 hour fasts. My body learned to run on stored fuel instead of demanding constant sugar. My insulin sensitivity came back. My cells started listening again.
Movement. Muscle tissue pulls glucose from your bloodstream without needing insulin. The more muscle you carry, the better your body handles blood sugar naturally. I built muscle. Starting from barely being able to do a pushup, four days out of the hospital.
The Numbers (Lab-Verified)
| Date | A1C | Status |
|---|---|---|
| July 6, 2022 | 11.7% | CODE RED — hospitalized |
| January 29, 2024 | 6.3% | First proof it was working |
| April 2, 2025 | 6.0% | Within management goal |
| March 4, 2026 | 5.5% | REMISSION — normal range |
No medications. No injections. Just the protocol.
Who I Am
I am Ray Taylor. 51 years old. Evesham, New Jersey. Sales professional by day, Type 2 diabetes survivor by choice.
I am not a doctor. I am not a nutritionist. I am a guy who was told this disease only gets worse — and proved otherwise. Every number I share comes from actual Labcorp lab results. Dated. Documented. Not a story someone told me. My own blood.
That is why I wrote Type 2 Ain’t My Type. Not to sell hope. To show proof.
